AlphaTrack and Logic
Long time, and first time Logic users alike, have found a whole lot of great new features to explore in Logic 8. And now Frontier Design Group is here to add to that list with the release of full support for AlphaTrack, the compact controller with a big ego. AlphaTrack packs many features previously only found on high-end mixers, into a package that fits on your desk and in your budget.
With its touch-sensitive, 100 mm, hi-resolution (full 10-bit) motorized fader, 3 touch-sensitive encoders and innovative touch strip, all linked to an integrated LCD display, AlphaTrack is loaded with tactile controls providing intelligent user feedback. Add to that a full transport section and 17 other multi-function buttons and it’s hard to believe AlphaTrack fits easily alongside your mouse and keypad. Our native mode plug-in for Logic 8 lets you edit EQ’s, Sends, Plug-Ins, Instruments, Automation and more.
Use AlphaTracks F-keys for quick access to your favorite screen sets, or easily customize your Logic Key Commands to add the functions you use most.
Setting up Logic 8 to use AlphaTrack is easy too. After installing the basic drivers, you simply copy the special AlphaTrack.bundle file into the Logic application file. When you launch Logic it will automatically reset AlphaTrack to the correct operating mode and add it to the controller list.

There are 2 PDF documents created specifically for Logic users on the Frontier Design Group. The first, Logic 8 and AlphaTrack, is a guide to using AlphaTrack with Logic 8 and contains detailed instructions for setting up your AlphaTrack, and getting the most out of its many features. A quick reference chart listing the default control set for Logic is found in this useful document.
The second file, Logic 8 Layout, is a single page picture of the AlphaTrack with overlaid text also summarizing the Logic 8 feature set. It may be helpful to print this file and have it handy as a quick reference guide.
