Topic: Won't show in Cubase 6 Mac. Works in Cubase 5

Running Mac OS 10.6.7 Snow Leopard. Have side-by side installations of Cubase 5 & 6. Tranzport has worked in Cubase 5 for years, and still works.
I have installed the Cubase native Tranzport plugin into the Cubase 6 program, however Tranzport does not show up in the 'Devices' menu in Cubase 6 as it does in Cubase 5. No binding problems. Any ideas?

Hi thatjeffguy,

If you're using the 32-Bit kernel on your mac then the TranzPort should show up in the device list, but if you're using the 64-bit kernel I don't think it will show up on the list.

This is because (if I remember correctly) Cubase 6 was the first to have a 64-Bit version for the mac and there isn't a 64-Bit TranzPort plug-in for Cubase on the mac.

So, the Tranzport is unstable in Cubase 6 with the current plug-in on the mac and this will be true until the plug-ins are updated and unfortunately I don't think this will be any time in the near future.

The TranzPort will work in Cubase 6 on a PC but unfortunately for the mac there will be problems.  Sorry.

Thank you for the response.
I'm running the 32 bit kernel, but the Tranzport does not appear in the device list. I have tried re-downloading and installing both the Tranzport plugin and the driver, still not showing up.
Are you saying that it WILL work in C6, but it will be 'unstable'?
I recently purchased a brand-new Tranzport to replace my existing one which was starting to lose the function of some of the buttons due to wear. At the time I purchased, I was unaware that the device had been discontinued. Now I'm in a pinch, you see?

Hi thatjeffguy,

Go to your applications folder and locate your Cubase 6 icon.  CTRL+click on it and select "Get Info", there's a checkbox there that says "launch in 32-Bit mode".  I'm assuming you have this box unchecked (therefore launching in 64-Bit mode).  Try checking that box so that Cubase launches in 32-Bit mode (the Cubase splash screen should say 32 or 64 bit mode when launched).  Launching Cubase 6 in 32 bit mode should get you a TranzPort controller in the controller list.

Try that and let me know if it works.

No luck, it still doesn't show up as an option in the Devices menu. Thanks anyway!
