I finally got a copy of Cubase 6 and loaded it onto a Mac with 10.6.6 and I found similar issues as you've seen.
When I opened Cubase6 in 32-Bit mode I could see the AlphaTrack in the device list and it would work for a little while then lock up the AlphaTrack and upon closing Cubase it would appear as a crash.
When opened in 64-Bit mode (cubase), the AlphaTrack wasn't seen in the device list at all.
There was a similar issue in Logic once it supported separate 32 and 64 bit versions so I've forwarded this message on and hopefully this can get resolved.

When is the update? Many are still waiting. I can not get all the performance Cubase 6 because of my AlphaTrack, not working in 64 bit mode in OSX.
It's a shame to think that I bought a device obsolete!
