Hi andyf2000,

I haven't heard of this happening short of having installed wrong drivers.  What version OS are you running and what version of the AlphaTrack driver have you installed?

Hi varzola,

If you plug in the USB transceiver and the little TranzPort icon pops up on your screen this means that the drivers have installed properly and the TranzPort should be able to bind.

It sounds like you performed the manual binding procedure properly. Short of loading drivers onto another computer and trying to bind on another machine I'd have to say that this is a defect.  I'd try either returning it for a replacement or sending it in for repair.

If you would like to send it in for repair you can contact support@frontierdesign.com for instructions on sending it in.

Hi EH,

Did you just purchase the AlphaTrack or have you had it for a while?

Does it do this when you're out of ProTools?

Exit ProTools and move the fader to the bottom.  Press shift+stop+f4, this will run a recalibration.  Then let me know:

A) How exactly does the fader move (if at all) each time you perform a recalibration?
B) Does it help your situation in ProTools?

Hi Goukhon,

I know that's not the news you would like to hear but I don't see any Windows 7 drivers being released for the Wavecenter/PCI card any time soon.  Sorry.

Not sure why the others would work and not Cubase but without official Windows 7 drivers I guess anything can be happening behind the scenes.

CS

Hi Goukhon,

Unfortunately you won't be able to use the Wavecenter in Windows 7.  There aren't any Win7 drivers for the Wavecenter.

Hi Jerry,

I don't think you can do that in iTunes.  I think it's hard wired to just advance and play the next song.

Hi Carlmal,

You should just be able to navigate to a track in your project, press the 'auto' button on the AlphaTrack.  Select which type of automation you want (touch, write, read etc). Then press play and make your adjustments.  Then press stop, set the automation to 'read' and rewind a bit and then press play.  Did it record your automation?

Tell me exactly what steps you're taking to do this and let me know what you expect to happen in each step.

And what do you mean it works in auto mode but not in a single track?

Hi miraclegyrlz,

That firmware version is from the first build of AlphaTracks.  After that first build we updated the firmware to 1.01 which fixes this issue.  Unfortunately we have to do the firmware update here so if you want to send the AlphaTrack in to us we can update the firmware for free.

Send support@frontierdesign.com an email and they can hook you up with an RMA number and instructions for sending it in for a firmware update.

I got a copy of Cubase 5 and I was able to confirm all this after updating to Cubase 5.5.  I emailed a contact at Steinberg about this to see what's changed from the previous version.

Hi heyclown,

That 'nix' file is a UNIX file the 'U' is hidden on that screenshot.  Those files all look ok.  The only thing that looks odd is the fact that the 'AlphaTrack.bundle 9' folder should look like a square white LEGO.

Have you tried placing that AlphaTrack.bundle folder into Logic's 'Midi Device Plug-ins' folder located here:

go to your applications folder and locate the proper version of Logic
CTRL+click on the icon and go to 'show package contents'
then click on the 'contents' folder
then click on the 'Midi Device Plug-ins' folder
The bundle folder should go in there.
Now you can launch Logic from that icon and see if it works.

Try that and let me know if it works.

Depending on how your computer handles zipped downloads you'll should see one of two things:

either you download the 1.3 plug-in and it's a zipped folder in your downloads folder that you'll need to unzip and end up with a file named "AlphaTrack.bundle" and the icon should look like a square white LEGO.

or you download the 1.3 plug-in and your computer automatically unzips it in your downloads folder and you have the square white LEGO icon whose file name is AlphaTrack.bundle

Are you not seeing this?  Can you send a screenshot of whatever it is that you're seeing to support@frontierdesign.com'

Are you getting an empty folder or...

Also...try pressing shift+stop+f4 to recalibrate your AlphaTrack's touch circuitry to see if that helps at all.

Hi heyclown,

If you go to this link:

http://frontierdesign.com/Products/AlphaTrack/Downloads

and scroll down to the "Plug-Ins" section you'll find 2 AlphaTrack/Logic plug-in downloads.

What exactly are you having problems with?

If you're still having issues, let me know what version OS you have and let me know what version of Logic you have.

Hi miraclegyrlz,

Welcome to the forum.  First a few questions...

What programs are you using with the AlphaTrack?
What kind of computer are you using and what version OS?
Can you give me a specific example of this so that I can try to reproduce it here? (include which program you're using and a simple example of this issue.
If you press and hold shift+stop (on the AlphaTrack) and then touch the right encoder what version pops up on the AlphaTrack's LCD? (this is the firmware version).

Hi itsjustjoel1,

I'd refer to the link below:

http://frontierdesign.com/Products/TranzPort/Downloads

scroll down to the documentation section and locate your recording program you use with the TranzPort.  In there you'll see a layout for that app and a user's manual.  Both will probably tell you exactly how to do this.  If you still need help, let me know what program it is that you're using and I'll see if I can help.

Usually you'll need to press shift and use the datawheel.

Hi harpman,

I'm not sure, I'll have to check into that and get back to you.  In the meantime, I just wanted to touch base with you so you know we're not ignoring you.

Hi John,

I don't think you can assign any buttons when emulating a HUI.  I think everything has to be pretty much 'hard wired' in this case.

I know this issue is on a list of fixes but I don't know if or when to expect an update.

Hi,

I just tried Sonar X1 and works in the same way as previous versions of Sonar.  The UI has changed a bit from previous versions of Sonar so the setup is slightly different.  But anyone familiar with previous versions of Sonar shouldn't have a problem figuring it out.

In previous versions of Sonar setup goes something like this:

----------
Launch SONAR and open the Options\MIDI Devices window. Enable the AlphaTrack MIDI port in both the Inputs and Outputs sections of the window, and then click OK.

Next, open the “Options\Control Surfaces…” window within SONAR and click the yellow “+” symbol on the right to open the pop-up m“Control Surface Settings.” Select “AlphaTrack” from the list and set both the In Port and Out Port settings to the “AlphaTrack” as well. Click OK to accept your settings.
----------

In Sonar X1 you'll do the same as described above only in X1 you'll need to go to Edit/Preferences/Midi

"Devices" to enable the AlphaTrack's midi ports) and
"Control Surfaces" to add a control surface

Hi John,

This problem started I think with ProTools 8.  What happened was the name of EQ3 in ProTools changed slightly and now is unrecognized.  However, the current workaround to this is to use the AlphaTrack's 'plug-in' button and then select the EQ and adjust the parameters from there.

pjl,

The TranzPort and AlphaTrack will both work with the Mac's 64-Bit kernel (and Logic's 64-Bit version as well).  Just go to the following page to download the latest drivers:

(v1.4.3)

Hi Annabelle,

The decision to discontinue the TranzPort wasn't an easy one but it was due largely to the recent demand/economic downturn and not because there is a replacement product in the works.  We will still continue to provide support and repairs to our legacy products.

Thanks for your support.

CS

Hi Annabelle,

Is the AlphaTrack not being recognized by your computer or is it not being recognized by your recording programs?

When you plug in the AlphaTrack does the AlphaTrack manager icon pop up on the top of your computer screen?

CS

Ok, one first, I would get rid of one of those AlphaTrack.bundle files.  You should have only one plug-in in there for the AlphaTrack.  Keep the latest one and trash the older one.  Or trash them both and put a fresh one in there just to make sure.

Also, the AlphaTrack Installer should not be in that folder.  This installer can be trashed after you install the drivers.

Try that, relaunch Logic and see if it helps.

Hi WaveTable,

Email support@frontierdesign.com and mention the kernel panic report. They'll give you further details and help you resolve this.
