Hi kihikihi,

You might get mixed results in Cubase 32 but your problem might be because of a wrong plug-in file.  You said:

"I've place the .dll file in the components folder yet still not appearing in the cubase device setup dialogue. I'm using OSx10.6.6."

But it shouldn't be a .dll file in OSx, it should be an AlphaTrackCN.bundle file.  Maybe that's what you meant.

Sorry, pinguinotuerto, we are aware of the recent change from Sonar8.5 to X1 that caused a change in the control surface mapping.  Currently we aren't sure if/when this will be fixed.

Hi vie,

What recording application (include the version and if it's 32 or 64-Bit) are you using when you see this problem?

Also, what kind of computer are you using (include the OS version and whether 32 or 64-Bit)?

Does the left encoder seem to work on other functions?

Hi wengr,

Does it appear in the registry?
If you go to your start icon on the desktop and select run and type regedit you should go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ASIO

Does 'Dakota' show up anywhere there?

Hi lanstrad,

The 3.15 is ok.  It wasn't changed to 3.16 I guess.

Hi Ripix,

Currently there isn't a 64-Bit Cubase plug-in yet but your device should work if you launch Cubase in 32-Bit mode (CTRL+click on the Cubase icon, select 'get info' check the box to launch in 32-Bit mode) but it won't work if your in 64-Bit mode.

Hi jh055,

I noticed in your earlier post that you said you 'clicked' on Cubase plug-in.  This might be an older plug-in in the driver installer.  So you'll want to go here:

http://frontierdesign.com/Products/AlphaTrack/Downloads

You'll want the "Cubase/Nuendo 32-bit Win Plug-in v1.0.7" if you're still using a 32-Bit Vista OS.  The TranzPortCN.dll file should go to C:/ProgramFiles/Steinberg/Cubase/Components

Place the TranzPortCN.dll file in the 'components' folder replacing the other one.  Then you might want to configure the TranzPort in Cubase again.  This should get that functionality back if the plug-in was at fault.

Hi AGITPROP65,

Have you tried power cycling/resetting your iphone?

Are you using iShredLive or iShred?

Hi yetti78,

I recall there being a reason why it only prints the scene number but I can't remember off the top of my head.  In the documentation

"On all pages (see next section), Arrangement view displays the Track Name only, whereas Session view displays the
Track Name as well as the selected Scene Name on the top line of the LCD"

"Scene Name" may have just been a poor choice of words.  "Scene 1" is the "name" of the first scene on a track but it's not THE name.  I would have thought the same thing.

CS

Hi jh055,

The version on the TranzPort LCD is the firmware version which hasn't needed any updates since its release so the 1.00 version that you see is actually normal and on all TranzPorts.

It sounds like you've set everything up correctly in Cubase and with drivers.

First, plug in the USB transceiver and confirm that the TranzPort manager's icon pops up on your computer screen.  That means the drivers have installed properly.

Next, you should check that the link LED on each device is lit solid.  If not, you'll want to try and manually bind the TranzPort to the receiver. You can do this by pressing shift+battery on the TranzPort remote, then, while the TranzPort LCD reads, "Binding...Please Wait" you'll want to press the button on the USB transceiver.

If the green link LED's don't light up at that point then it's possible that there's something wrong with either the USB transceiver or the TranzPort remote.

If you do the above and it doesn't bind, then you should send support@frontierdesign.com  an email and ask about sending it in for repair.

Hi Blunt,

That functionality isn't built into the 'native' protocol and the touch strip isn't a mappable control in the device setup. So there must be some loophole that he's using.  Quick controls seem to be specific to tracks so I wasn't able to accomplish it that way.

He could be using some sort of midi-translating software like Bome's midi translator.  Or maybe there are some features in Cubase that allows him to do that but I haven't found it yet. I can keep checking but you might want to ask the guy who shot the video how he did this.

Hi cuboquattro,

Thanks for the update! It sounds like Cubase 6 is working on Windows and Mac plug-ins will need to be updated.  Keep me posted if you find any other issues with Cubase6.

Hi cuboquattro,

I haven't yet seen any issues in Windows 7 but I did see some conflicts with the AlphaTrack in the Mac versions of Cubase.  So I'll keep messing with AlphaTrack in Windows7 and see if I can reproduce your experiences.

If there is anything else you can add about the problem you're experiencing, then that would be helpful.

Hi everyone,

After getting a copy of Cubase 6 I have noticed much of the same symptoms as everyone else:

*Cubase crashing when exiting (with AlphaTrack configured). It won't crash when AlphaTrack isn't on the device list.

*In Cubase (32-Bit mode) the AlphaTrack is listed on the device list but the controller will lock up after a minute or two

*In Cubase (64-Bit mode) the AlphaTrack isn't recognized in the device list at all

There were similar issues when Logic had their version (9.1.3?) that allowed for a 32/64 bit versions. I've forwarded this message on and hopefully this can be resolved soon.

I haven't yet seen this in Windows but I'll keep messing with it and see if I can reproduce your symptoms cuboquattro.

Hi andres,

I finally got a copy of Cubase 6 and loaded it onto a Mac with 10.6.6 and I found similar issues as you've seen.

When I opened Cubase6 in 32-Bit mode I could see the AlphaTrack in the device list and it would work for a little while then lock up the AlphaTrack and upon closing Cubase it would appear as a crash.

When opened in 64-Bit mode (cubase), the AlphaTrack wasn't seen in the device list at all.

There was a similar issue in Logic once it supported separate 32 and 64 bit versions so I've forwarded this message on and hopefully this can get resolved.

Hi Jonathan,

If you're using an AlphaTrack or TranzPort you can get the latest drivers from here:

(make sure each device is unplugged prior to running the installer)
http://frontierdesign.com/Products/AlphaTrack/Downloads
http://frontierdesign.com/Products/TranzPort/Downloads

If you're using another product, please specify which one.

Hi cuboquattro,

I got my copy of Cubase 6 and I installed it on a Windows 7 64-Bit machine.  I installed both 32 and 64-Bit versions of Cubase and got them both to work, so far without any issues. So it's hard to say what's going on with your setup.

Can you send me another screenshot of:

C:/Program Files/Steinberg
C:/Program Files(x86)/Steinberg

Did you have the AlphaTrack installer place the AlphaTrack plug-in at any time or did you manually place them into the 'Components' folder?

I ask because during the installer if you check the box for the Cubase plug-in the installer will ask you where you want to place the plug-in.  If you don't point it to the right folder then I think the installer creates a 'components' folder to place the plug-in into.

Also, what do you mean "it's all ok UNTIL it works"?

Hi Nigel W,

Do you get anything on the AlphaTrack's LCD screen from Logic?

You can find out if you're running Logic in 32 or 64-bit mode by going to your applications folder and finding your version of Logic and CTRL+click on the icon and select 'get info' there you should see a checkbox labeled "open in 32-Bit mode".  If this box is checked then you're in 32-Bit mode.

Also, when you go to your applications folder how many Logic icons do you see?  For example, I have 2, one called "Logic Pro 9.0.2" and another called "Logic Pro".  The one called "Logic Pro" is version 9.1.3 (this is confirmed in the 'get info' as well).  I ask because if I place an AlphaTrack plug-in into the "midi device plug-ins" folder of "Logic Pro 9.0.2" and launch "Logic Pro" then the AlphaTrack won't get recognized.  So you'll need to make sure that each Logic icon has the correct AlphaTrack plug-in.

If you still have trouble, you can send screenshots of what I've described and send them to support@frontierdesign.com and I'll see if I see something wrong.

Hi Hatdaddy,

If the battery button doesn't register anything on the LCD screen and there's no link LED it sounds like your TranzPort isn't getting any power.  Since it worked for 30 seconds I wouldn't say that the TranzPort is "dead", instead it sounds like there may be some fit issues with the batteries not making proper contact with the metal plate and metal spring.  If you can ensure the batteries are making contact with the plate and spring (by using your fingers to make sure) and your still having problems then I suggest sending it in for repair.  But it sure sounds like the batteries aren't making good contact.

If you would like to send it in for repair you can contact support@frontierdesign.com for an RMA number

Hi ObtuseMoose,

I get this as well and if I remember correctly it is a timing issue.  Like Chris said using the encoder, changing the track once more, or selecting with the mouse should get it back in sync. It's still a bit annoying but it's not operator error and it's not your system.

So when you boot your computer (with Dakota installed on a PCI slot) there is no icon on the taskbar?  Did you expand the taskbar area or click on the arrow to see if it's hidden from view?

If you go to Control Panel/System/Device manager/Sound,Video and game controllers what appears there?
