Hello Central Scrutinizer, thanks for your reply.

After some further testing, I've found that the Alphatrack doesn't seem to be the issue.

Funny thing: Cubase 5 on Mac OS X uses 30% more CPU load when running in background. Very strange.

I posted a thread on the cubase.net forum.

Thanks anyway!

I've recently switched from Logic Pro to Cubase 5. I've been using the AlphaTrack for a while now, and I'm pretty happy with it. But now there is one big problem that I encounter.

I have a late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro (2x2.4GHz, 4G RAM) with the latest Mac OS X Leopard installed.

When I open a Cubase project WITHOUT the Alphatrack connected, the CPU idle load is at approx. 40%. With the Alphatrack connected, it's at about 70%. On both cores. On a project with two tracks, one of them being a VSTi track.

I find this very disappointing and disturbing, since I use a MacBook Pro, that's always been quiet whilst using Logic, but now the fans begin to fight the heat produced by the CPU due to its high load.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or any ideas how to fix this?

Many thanks in advance.
