Topic: Crashes

Very good instrument even if I see that driver it's not rocking solidly in W7 64.
Always crashes when W7 turns into suspend mode. Always crashes when monitor switches off. Backlit display never switches off. Sleep time set at 5 min.
Very good behaviour under Sonar x1...even if it does not control ProChannel.

Re: Crashes

With energy saving deactivated: no problem with  SonarX1 and W7 64bit except backlit display of AT that remains always on.
Light switches off only when PC turns off.
Any idea?

Re: Crashes

Good morning.
Does this silence mean that no solution (or explaination) is on the way?

Re: Crashes

Hi piangio,

Does the LCD screen on the AlphaTrack dim at all after those 5 minute?  Because it won't turn off completely, it will only dim.

Re: Crashes

Thank you CS. It happens exactly what you describe.
Any idea about the conflicts with power management of windows 7 64?
Thank you for the support.

Re: Crashes

Can you describe the crashes in more detail?  Can you also explain to me what your power management settings are at, and where you're changing them.  I'm not sure what suspend mode is.

Re: Crashes

It seems to come out of sleep and monitor power saving ok on the computer here (Win7 64).

try this:

Close all programs and go to www.midiox.com and download midi-ox.  When you launch midi-ox, go to options/midi devices and make sure that in midi input and midi output both have'AlphaTrack' highlighted then move the fader and knobs and see if data shows up in midi-ox's midi input window.  Once you confirm that midi-ox is displaying data from the AlphaTrack try to get the power saving features of your OS to crash the AlphaTrack but when you come out of these power saving features check to see if the AlphaTrack still sends data to midi-ox.

If it doesn't, check options/midi devices and see if the AlphaTrack is still selected.

Re: Crashes

Thank you. I'm just doing what you say. I'll soon report the test results. I'm sorry for the delay of my posts but it's because of time zones.
Thank you

Re: Crashes

I did it. Works very well and midiox displays every value.
I try to explain:
If I activate in windows the simple function to switch off monitor after (e.g.) 20 minutes of non-use, if Alphatrack is connected, when I try to wake-up monitor W7 hangs up, and it's necessary the rebooting.
Same if I plan the switch off of HD (suspend mode).
Without AT connected no problem at all. With AT connected and "always On" mode active, everything works perfectly!
Should it be something related to USB power management???

Re: Crashes

Bump

Re: Crashes

Hi piangio,

So let me get this straight:

With the AlphaTrack plugged in
And when your computer comes out of suspend/monitor mode
You're never able to test midi-ox because you need to reboot your computer.

Is that correct?

What do you see on your computer screen right before W7 hangs?
Where are you plugging in your AlphaTrack?  Directly into the USB port on your computer?

What power saving settings are you on?  Have you tried different power saving settings (high performance)?

CS

Re: Crashes

Thank You for the support.
W764 with energy saving utility set to High performance mode.
- When Alpha Track is connected (no matter if DAW is on or off) if windows just switches off the monitor, the OS freezes and a reboot is needed.
- Without AT connected no problem at all. If monitor switches off or OS turns into suspend mode, everything works.
Hope I'm explaining well.

Re: Crashes

AT is connected directly in my PC. No USB hub.
Thanx

Re: Crashes

Hi piangio,

When power saving turns your monitor off and you try to turn your monitor back on (by moving the mouse lets say) when you say your computer 'hangs' do you mean?  Does it blue screen or does your computer freeze?  Does anything appear on your computer screen when this happens?  Are you able to move the mouse on the computer screen?  If it appears like your mouse is frozen, try unplugging it and replugging it in.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out what 'kind' of crash this is.

CS

Re: Crashes

The computer freezes but with no blue screen. The mouse goes everywhere but click doesn't work.  Also the keyboard does not affect any open application.
The only way to work is the rebot.
Hope it's clear.
Thank you for the support.

Re: Crashes

When this happens, what happens when you unplug and replug the mouse/keyboard/or AlphaTrack?

CS

Re: Crashes

Good morning.
Anything happens if I unplug usb connectors of Mouse, Keyb, AT.
Os needs rebooting.
