MIDI Implementation for Showing Current Patch?

Well, it was time for my annual visit to the Frontier Apache forum.  Last here, I was looking for a way to send MIDI SysEx recall patches, and that turned out well.  I use it all the time to remotely send patch change commands.  But there's one feature absent from the Apache that I really miss.  I would love to be able to glance at the Apache and determine what the current patch is, like from a numerical LED.  I do a lot of ADAT redirection between the console, the hard disk recorder and the RME DAW card.  As it now stands, if I don't know exactly what the current patch is, I have to watch the Input and Output status lights on the front panel and correlate them to a graphic record I keep of which patch is which, requiring many wasted moments.

If I could just ping the Apache with a MIDI request to report the current patch, that would be such a time saver.  I'm feeling less than optimistic because I think I don't see anything like that in the manual MIDI implementation.

Is anyone aware if there's a MIDI SysEx that will return the current patch number?
