Songs Screen

tap to zoom in & out

The Songs screen lists all your songs in one place, and provides commands that make it easy to copy, delete, or reorder them. To go to the Songs screen, you hold a finger on the upper left Main Menu (the menu will slide into place from the right), and then tap on the "Songs" menu item. The Songs screen will then slide into view from below.

tap to zoom in & out

The Songs screen has a scrollable list of songs on the left, a menu list of actions on the right, and a "Done" button in the top right. When you are finished with the Songs screen, just tap Done and it will slide out of view bringing you back to the main screen.

If a song name has a "musical notes" icon in front of it, then that song has a recording associated with it already. You can play that recording, or add to it, using PianoStudio's Recorder. The currently selected song has a checkmark to its right.

Selecting a Song
tap to zoom in & out

Selecting a song is easy. Just scroll it into view on the song list by dragging a finger up or down, then tap on the song name. It will be briefly highlighted in blue, and then a full screen busy notice will appear while the song is being loaded.

Creating a New Song
tap to zoom in & out

You can quickly create a new song by tapping the "New Song" menu item on the right. This will cause the "New Song Name" screen to slide into place. Here you can clear the default new song name (the bland "New Song") and replace it with a better title. Keys are added to the standard keyboard with musical and superscript number options. When you hit either "Done" button a "busy" screen is shown while the new song is created, loaded, and added to the Songs list right below the previously selected song.

Every new song looks the same until you customize it. All five banks have a button layout with dark grey Note buttons in 3 rows and 6 columns.

Copying a Song

You can copy the selected song by tapping the "Copy Song" menu item on the right. A song naming keyboard will slide into place with a slightly modified version of the selected song's name. Change the song name as you wish and tap either "Done" button. A copy of the selected song will be created, loaded, added to the Songs list, and selected.

Deleting a Song
tap to zoom in & out

To delete a song, you first must select it so it shows a checkmark to the right of its name. Then just tap on the "Delete Song" menu item on the right. An Alert will appear asking you to confirm that you really want to delete that song. If you tap "Yes" then the song (and any associated recording) are deleted, it is removed from the Songs list, and the next song in the Songs list is selected and loaded.

Editing a Song's Comments
tap to zoom in & out

You can create and save text comments with any of your songs. Just select the song and tap the "Song Comments" menu item on the right. The Song Comments screen will slide into view, letting you type in your comments. Tap "Done" when you are finished, or "Cancel" if you want to delete any changes you have made to the song's comments.

Reordering the Songs List
tap to zoom in & out

The order of songs on the Songs screen can be changed by tapping the "Reorder Songs" menu item on the right. Three-line "grabbers" will appear to the right of all the song names. To move a song in the list, touch a grabber and drag it up or down to the position you want, then release. Press "Reorder Done" when you've got the list in the order you want.
