Note Buttons
The Note Button Editor panel lets you assign one or more notes to any Note Button in the current Bank. You can make it appear by tapping a Note Button and then selecting "Editor" from the Main Menu. The Note Button Editor panel will slide into view from the bottom of the screen. You can tap any button, while editing, to hear what is currently assigned to it.
The Note Button Editor panel has these elements:
- Keyboard
- The keyboard is used to assign notes to a Note Button. Tap keys on the
keyboard to assign them to (or remove them from) the Note Button.
If you select another Note Button then the keyboard will slide to reveal
the selected notes for that button. If there are any notes selected that are
not shown on the displayed octave then a reddish arrow will appear over the left-
or right-most key to let you know that there are notes beyond the currently displayed octave.
- A miniature view of all 88 keys of the keyboard highlights the currently visible octave, and any active notes are highlighted in orange.
- The "C" notes on the keyboard are numbered with their octave ... "middle C"
is "C4." The notes between C4 and C5 are part of the fourth octave. So, for
example, the E to the right of C4 is E4.
- When you add a single note to an empty Note Button, a label with the note name
is applied to the selected button. If you add another note, three dots are
put on a second label line to indicate that there is more than one note on that
button. You can edit these labels using the
Button Style Editor.
- Scroll Strip
- Right below the keyboard is a row of tools. In the center is the scroll strip. When you touch the scroll strip it expands to the full width of the screen. You can slide your finger to the left or right on the scroll strip to scroll to a different part of the keyboard. You can also get at other notes on the keyboard by swiping (flicking) your finger on the scroll strip. A setting in the "Global" tab on the Settings screen can change the direction in which the keyboard moves in response to your finger.
- Grabber
- This control,
in the upper right of the editing panel, lets you move and
hide the panel. It is described fully in the Editing
help chapter.
- Button Style
- To adjust
the appearance of the Note Button, tap the Button Style button in
the lower left of the panel. This will activate the
Button Style Editor panel.
- Note/Phrase Selection
- Buttons can
either be Note or Phrase Buttons. This pair of controls lets you
change between the two types of buttons. Note Buttons have the left control
(the small keyboard) pressed.
- Chord Button
- This button
brings up the Chord Selector screen,
which lets you pick from thousands of chords and assign the notes of the chord to the selected button.
The other buttons on the lower row of this panel, Actions and Help, are described in the Editing help chapter.
